History is Made with Trolley Dedication

The Centre City Developemnt Corporation, San Diego Housing Commission, MTS, SANDAG & Smart Corner Celebrate Long-Anticipated Trolley Re-Route and SDHC Office Dedication

San Diego, CA, January 26, 2007 – Smart Corner, downtown San Diego’s first mixed-use transit-oriented project, celebrated Wednesday, January 24th, 2007 as the trolley made its commemorative voyage through the Smart Corner residential high-rise and office building, over the re-routed trolley track. The Centre City Development Corporation (CCDC), SANDAG, Metropolitan Transit Systems (MTS), CJUF Smart Corner LLC and The San Diego Housing Commission have teamed up in an effort to create a transportation related project which exemplifies the principles of Smart Growth; an approach to urban planning that seeks the benefits of a close connection between jobs and housing, and provides an opportunity to live and work without a car.
